Rapid Response

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) requires employers with 100 or more full-time employees to provide at least 60 calendar days advance written notice of closure or mass layoff affecting 50 or more employees at a single location.

Upon receiving notice of a WARN or hearing of a forthcoming layoff through other means, Rapid Response teams visit companies to assist employers and workers. Employers receive confidential  help to understand WARN requirements, possible layoff alternatives, and how to conduct an orderly shutdown, if necessary.

The Team works with employers to schedule an on-site visit to meet with impacted workers and provide them with information regarding Unemployment Insurance, health insurance options, and an orientation about employment and training services available through WorkSource. The goal of any Rapid Response is to help laid-off workers get back on their feet quickly.
